FAQ

Questions? We've probably answered it.

Everything about the Academy, career support, recruitment, contract engineers, company training and the CoderCo community, all in one place.

General

General

The basics, what CoderCo is, who it's for and how to reach us.

What is CoderCo?
CoderCo is a technology-career company. We help people build serious careers in DevOps and cloud engineering through the Academy, and we help companies hire capable engineering talent.
Who is CoderCo for?
Anyone serious about DevOps, from career-changers with no background to existing engineers who want a structured route into cloud and platform work. The roadmap starts from foundations, so no prior experience is required.
Who founded CoderCo?
CoderCo was founded by Murrad, Mo and Abz, practising cloud and DevOps engineers who built the Academy, recruitment and community around real delivery experience rather than theory. You can meet them on the About page.
How do I contact CoderCo?
Use the Contact page, choose the reason for your enquiry (joining the Academy, existing member support, recruitment, employer partnership, media, or a general question) so it reaches the right team, or email [email protected] directly.

CoderCo Academy

Academy

Everything about joining, learning and what's included.

Is the Academy suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The pathway begins with core foundations, but you should be prepared to study consistently, solve problems and build independently. Existing technical experience can help you move faster, but it is not required.
Do I need a computer science degree?
No. The Academy is built around practical capability, projects and communication rather than a degree requirement. Many members landed roles with no degree at all.
Do I need to know how to code first?
No. DevOps is about systems more than application code, Linux, cloud, automation, deployment. You'll learn the scripting you need inside the roadmap.
How long does the Academy take?
It's self-paced, so the timeline depends on your starting point and weekly commitment. The team will give you a realistic expectation on your call.
Can I do it alongside a full-time job?
Most members study around a full-time job. Consistent weekly hours beat intensity, the sessions are recorded, and the community keeps you accountable between them.
What modules and projects are included?
Thirteen modules, a live weekly calendar and a growing vault of recordings, plus practical cloud and DevOps projects covering infrastructure, containers, automation and deployment, headlined by the ECS Project, the flagship build members walk through in interviews.
Are there live sessions, and are they recorded?
Yes to both. Live sessions, Q&As and hands-on technical support run weekly, and sessions are recorded so you can catch up if you miss one.
Do I need a powerful computer?
No. A standard laptop is fine, the heavy lifting happens in the cloud. You'll set up your environment in the first module (Windows, Mac and Linux all work).
Can I join from outside the UK?
Yes, members have landed roles in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and the UAE. Job-market support and salary expectations vary by country; the team will clarify what applies to you.
What does the Academy cost?
$3,000 per year. Final currency and payment terms are confirmed on your call.
What happens after I apply?
You'll speak with the team about where you are now, where you want to go, and decide together whether the Academy is a fit. No pressure, no checkout.
Is employment or a specific salary guaranteed?
No. CoderCo provides training, projects, support and career preparation. Employment and salary outcomes depend on your effort, prior experience, interview performance, location, role, employer and the wider market.

Career & job support

Career Support

CV, interviews, job search and CoderCo's in-house recruitment.

What career support is included?
CV support, LinkedIn support, mock interviews, 100+ recorded interview-prep sessions across different levels, and salary-negotiation guidance for when an offer lands on the table.
Do you offer mock interviews and interview recordings?
Yes. The CV Module, LinkedIn Module and 100+ interview prep recordings are part of the Academy, alongside live interview preparation, subject to current membership policies.
Do you help with the job search itself?
Yes, strengthening your CV, LinkedIn profile, interview preparation and job-search strategy is one of the outcomes the Academy is built around.
What is CoderCo's in-house recruitment support?
When you're job-ready, CoderCo's in-house recruitment function can connect suitable members with relevant opportunities and hiring companies.
When does recruitment support start?
Once you're job-ready, it isn't a fixed point in the programme, it follows your progress.
Is a job or role guaranteed?
No. Employment is never guaranteed. Completing the Academy does not automatically result in placement, this is career support, not a promise of a job.
Is there a job board?
Yes, the job board is part of the free community. See the Community section below.

Free community

Community

The free first step, and how it differs from the Academy.

Is the community free?
Yes. You can join the free CoderCo community at any time, no application or payment required.
How do I join?
Through the public Skool group, join the free community, have a look around, and judge us on what you see.
What's included?
The DevOps roadmap, live sessions and Q&As with the founders, the job board, and a success-stories feed where roles land in real time, general support, public resources, community discussion and selected events.
Is the community different from the Academy?
Yes. The free community is where you explore, ask questions and understand the landscape. The Academy is the structured, supported programme, roadmap, practical projects, live engineering support and career preparation.
Are there live sessions in the free community?
Yes, live sessions and Q&As with the founders are part of the free community.

For employers

Recruitment

Hiring DevOps, cloud and platform engineering talent.

What roles does CoderCo recruit for?
Permanent DevOps, Cloud, Platform, SRE, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity talent.
Do you only recruit Academy graduates, or experienced engineers too?
Both. We place CoderCo-developed talent trained by Principal Engineers on practical delivery, and for more senior or specialist requirements, our recruitment team searches the wider market for experienced engineers.
What is the recruitment process?
An initial qualification call, then your first shortlist of 3–5 candidates by the end of week 1, introductions and first-stage interviews in week 2, final interviews and offer support in weeks 3–4, then hire and follow-through from week 4 onward.
Where can you recruit?
Our talent network is primarily UK-based, but we regularly support remote roles and relocation requirements.
How do I brief CoderCo on a role?
Use the "Tell us who you need to hire" form on the Recruitment page, or email [email protected].
Who will manage my search?
Searches are led directly by CoderCo's in-house recruitment team rather than passed between account managers, with a single point of contact from first email to offer.
What makes CoderCo different from a generalist agency?
Visibility a generalist agency doesn't have, community-driven learning on real-world projects, internal meritocratic tech-test assessments, and mock interviews with engineers who actually hire.
What are your fees?
We work on a placement-fee model. Pricing depends on role seniority and scope, so we'll confirm this during the initial conversation.
How quickly can you fill a role?
Our recruitment process is designed to move quickly while maintaining quality. Timelines vary depending on the seniority and complexity of the search.
Is this a staffing or EOR arrangement?
No. You hire the candidate directly. CoderCo supports the recruitment and placement process rather than acting as employer of record.

Contract engineers

Contract Engineers

Project-based and short-term engineering capacity.

What types of contract engineers can CoderCo provide?
Three ways of working: project delivery, additional team capacity, and contract-to-permanent arrangements.
Can engineers support project-based or short-term work?
Yes, project delivery and short-term capacity are both supported, drawing on the same DevOps, Cloud, Platform, SRE, Infrastructure and Cybersecurity network used for permanent recruitment.
Can contract placements become permanent?
Yes. Contract-to-permanent arrangements can be discussed where they make sense for both the company and engineer, with terms agreed clearly in advance.
How quickly can I discuss a requirement?
Availability depends on the individual engineer, notice periods and the requirements of the engagement. Because CoderCo maintains an active talent community rather than starting every search from zero, relevant available engineers can be identified quickly.
How are engineers prepared for client work?
Alongside the technical curriculum and hands-on projects, engineers complete an intensive two-week sprint designed around realistic workplace scenarios, engineering workflows, collaboration and delivery expectations.
What support do CoderCo engineers continue to receive?
Engineers within the CoderCo community continue to have access to live technical sessions, technical support and the wider engineering community while developing their careers.

Training for companies

Training

Bespoke DevOps, Cloud and Platform Engineering programmes.

Can training be customised to our exact stack and tools?
Yes, that's the point. Every programme is built around your actual stack and goals before delivery, not adapted from generic material.
What is a typical cohort size?
Cohort sizes are flexible, from small pods of 3–4 engineers to full-team upskilling. We'll scope the right size around your goals and timeline.
Is training delivered remotely, onsite or both?
Bespoke. Delivery is shaped around what works for your team, remote, onsite or a hybrid mix.
What technical areas can you train?
DevOps Foundations, Platform Engineering, MLOps for Platform Teams, Observability & SRE, Cloud-native Security, and Kubernetes for Platform Teams.
How is a programme scoped?
Four steps: Scope, understand your stack, current capability and goals. Build, design the programme around your actual environment. Deliver, live, hands-on training remotely, onsite or hybrid. Support, continue development beyond the programme.
Is the content generic?
No. Programmes are shaped by engineers actively working across DevOps, Cloud and Platform Engineering, then rebuilt around your team's environment, tools and goals.
Who delivers the training?
Engineers actively working across DevOps, Cloud and Platform Engineering, not generic course instructors.
What happens after the programme?
Post-training support is included, so teams can continue developing beyond the programme itself.
What's the difference between company training and the Academy?
The Academy is our individual, self-serve career training. Training for Companies is commissioned by your company and built around your team, your stack and your goals.
